June 2nd, 2010 -- When the CASCOR Canadian Tire Series rolled into the Auto Clearing Speedway, it would be the last stop on the western swing of the 2010 season.
Jordan Robson and Brent Sweet led the field to the green flag. The first caution of the night came out when Frankie Stickley got into the back of Mike Husby’s #9 Part Source Avenger.
Jordan Robson and Harrison Widelitz led the field back to green on lap 11. But the caution flew again on lap 25 when Tyler Tucker and Will Goshen got together in the middle of turns one and two.
Most of the leaders would pit under this caution and a few would play pit strategy. Pete Engelmanas led the field back to green ahead of Widelitz and Robson on lap 31.
Widelitz would take over the lead on lap 33. Throughout the middle portion of the race several cautions slowed the event. Late in the race, Widelitz got loose off of turn 2 and slid back to 11th while racing Robson for the lead.
A late race caution with 16 laps to go would make things interesting in the final laps. Everyone would make their way down pit road under this caution flag. Jordan Robson, Mike Husby, Auz Grams and Will Goshen would opt to take 2 tires on their stops to hold on to and/or gain track position.
Robson led Mike Husby, Pete Engelmanas, Will Goshen and Frankie Stickley back to green with 11 laps to go.
Caution would fly once again when Andrew Hayes got into the back of Frankie Stickley in turn 3. Mike Husby would once again suffer connection issues, falling from 2nd place to 11th 1 lap down.
This would set up a wild 1 lap shootout to the finish. Robson led, Engelmanas, Goshen, Widelitz and Grams to the green flag. Andrew Hayes and Bertus De Jong would get together in turn 3 of the final lap collecting Frankie Stickley and Ben Althen. While the rest of the field raced back to the line.
Robson would cross the line with the win ahead of Engelmanas 2nd, Widelitz 3rd, Goshen 4th and Auz Grams rounding out the top 5.
Goshen would extend his lead to 21 points over 2nd place Andrew Hayes and 70 over 3rd place Mike Husby.
The Series will return to the east coast for the 2nd running of the Grand Prix de Trois Rivieres 50 June 15th, 2010! You won’t want to miss it!
