ENGELMANAS WINS FIRST RACE @ SUN VALLEY

May 26th, 2010 --
When the Canadian Tire Series rolled into Sun Valley Speedway, the series began the 2nd race of the western swing.

Mike Husby and Pete Engelmanas led the field to the green flag. Husby would lead the first 16 laps before handing the lead over to teammate Will Goshen on lap 18. Husby would take the led back on lap 29, and then handed it back to Goshen on lap 30.

Husby would once again drive under Goshen to take the lead on lap 33. But the caution would fly for the first time of the night for a spinning Jon Iaccino in turn 2.

Mike Husby would lead all but Jon Iaccino down pit road for the first pit stop of the night. Husby would receive an end of the longest line penalty and started from the rear on the restart.

Pete Engelmanas and Will Goshen led the field back to green on lap 39. Caution would quickly fly as Jon Iaccino got into the back of Mike Husby on the restart.

Engelmanas once again led the field back to green on lap 45. Will Goshen took the lead back from Engelmanas on lap 49 and held onto the lead until lap 81 as Husby and Engelmanas got by Goshen in turn 1.

The third caution of the night came out for the #27 of Ian Hann’s spinning car on lap 115. All of the leaders would make their way down pit road for four fresh tires and fuel after a very long 70 lap green flag run.

Pete Engelmanas would lead the field back to green with 30 laps to go. But the caution flew for the fourth time for a self spinning Ian Hann on lap 133. Husby and Engelmanas would pit while Goshen would stay out under what may have been the final caution.

Goshen would lead the field back to green with 14 laps to go. Hann would spin once again bringing the caution out on lap 138. The leaders would stay out under this caution.

Goshen led the field once again back to green with 7 laps to go. It appeared as if no one would be able to get by Goshen until Pete Engelmanas made a move on the high side with 2 laps to go.

Engelmanas’ move paid off, making it stick on the high side to take the win. Will Goshen finishes 2nd, Andrew Hayes 3rd, Mike Husby 4th and Josh S once again rounded out the top 5.

With the season beginning to wind down, the points lead shrinks even more. As Andrew Hayes and Will Goshen are now tied for the points lead going into the next race at Auto Clearing Speedway.

Who will come out on top at Auto Clearing Speedway? Can Andrew Hayes take back the points lead? Or can Will Goshen’s consistency continue? Find out next week when the series heads to Auto Clearing Speedway for the Vortex Brake Pads 125!
