April 21st, 2010 -- When the CASCOR Super Car Series headed to Texas Motor Speedway many were surprised to see that Frankie Stickley was in a team uniform and not a driver suit. Instead Harrison Widelitz would be the driver of the #59 car for the weekend.
Harrison Widelitz and Ben Althen led the field to the green flag for the first race at the Texas Motor Speedway in the Rattle Snake 150.
Three laps into the event, another surprise emerged with Andrew Hayes moving into the lead, while Widelitz would drop back to second. The caution would come out for the first time when Matt Trace and Pete Engelmanas got together in turn 1 and 2.
The second caution came out for the biggest wreck of the night on lap 11. The wreck would involve nine cars as a result of Husby and Widelitz coming together off of turn 2. Both drivers felt they were at fault at the time of the incident and officials deemed it a racing deal.
Six more caution flags would come out over the course of the event. One of which Hann spun out on the front stretch. This set up a long green flag run for the finish.
Pete Engelmanas would lead the field back to green on lap 68. As the run wore on the leaders would end up attempting to save as much fuel as possible, but some would not make the gamble.
Josh Tew, Andrew Hayes, Mike Husby and Will Goshen would be the drivers that would not gamble on fuel, and pitted for a splash of gas and two tires. Unfortunately it would not pay off in the long run.
Pete Engelmanas, who led the most laps, lost the lead in turn 3 on the final lap, running on fumes. Ian Hann who had layed back a bit more than Engelmanas would end up blowing by him taking over the lead and the win.
Hann would win his first CASCOR Super Car series race ever. Tyler Tucker finishes 2nd, Bertus De Jong matches his best career finish in 3rd, Mike Husby 4th and Pete Engelmanas did not make it back to the start finish line and rounded out the top 5.
The Super Car series heads to Talladega, AL for the next race, for the CASCOR Super Car Series 100. Will we have another first time winner? Will Frankie Stickley return to action? Or can someone else steal the spotlight? Find out next week as the action gets even more intense at the biggest track in stock car racing, Talladega Super Speedway!
